"text": "A king offers his daughter's hand to the adventurer who can bring her home. Between the kingdom and its stolen princess lies a living jungle: a maze of ancient ruins, rare creatures, elemental shrines, and ten monstrous wardens. Beyond them waits the beast that took her.\n\nBut the rescue is also a test. Five artifacts must be found. Five elements must be mastered. Five seals must be awakened on the princess's enchanted garments. Attempt to free her without that mastery, and the rescuer becomes another rare beast. The princess returns to her prison, the monsters rise, and the jungle prepares for its next visitor.\n\nThe title has two meanings. Jungle Rage is the name people give to the forest's unnatural fury. It is also the rage that consumes a would-be hero who takes power without learning to govern it.",

"title": "THE KINGDOM AT THE EDGE OF THE LEAVES",
"text": "The kingdom of Verdane stands beside the ancient jungle of Veyrwood. Its farms depend on rivers born beneath the canopy. Its walls rest on stone drawn from the jungle hills. Its healers use plants that grow nowhere else. To the people of Verdane, the forest is both their greatest blessing and their oldest fear.\n\nLong before Verdane existed, Veyrwood grew around the Worldheart, a living source where Fire, Water, Lightning, Earth, and Air meet. These are nature's five foundations. Fire changes. Water restores. Lightning awakens. Earth endures. Air carries life and allows it to move.\n\nNone is good or evil. Each becomes destructive when it overwhelms the others.\n\nThe first inhabitants made a covenant with the Worldheart. The royal bloodline would watch over the forest, protect its creatures, and prevent any ruler from claiming the elements as private weapons. In return, the forest would nourish the kingdom.\n\nPrincess Aveline is the current living keeper of that covenant. Although her father rules Verdane, she carries the bond to Veyrwood. She knows its medicinal plants, remembers the old shrine language, and visits the forest settlements under royal protection. The jungle's fate is therefore part of her duty, not merely the setting of her imprisonment.\n\nKing Edric loves his daughter and has watched his soldiers disappear beneath the trees. By the start of the game, failing rivers and spreading thorn growth threaten the kingdom. Rescuing Aveline is personal for him, but it is also essential to Verdane's survival.\n\nThe player remains the existing Jungle Rage hero. This lore adds no mandatory new appearance, name, gender, or secret royal ancestry. The protagonist is an adventurer summoned because courage and determination may succeed where armies cannot.",

"text": "Generations ago, a royal champion named Vaelor entered Veyrwood during a time of famine. He believed that a single warrior commanding all five elements could force the jungle to serve the kingdom forever.\n\nThe keepers warned him that possession was not mastery. He gathered the five elemental artifacts but refused the disciplines that would bring their powers into balance. When the forest's keeper denied him access to the Worldheart, he tried to force the covenant open.\n\nHe brought the five artifacts against the keeper's ceremonial garments and pulled their power into himself. The Worldheart answered his violence. His body became a massive beast of horn, bark, stone, and burning veins. His name faded into a title: the Hollow King.\n\nThe covenant survived, but Vaelor's attack wounded its protection. A failsafe meant to prevent the Worldheart from being stolen became a repeating curse. Whenever an unprepared rescuer tries to release the living keeper, the broken covenant reshapes that person into a beast and rebuilds its prison.\n\nThe Hollow King discovered that he could make this broken protection work for him. He bound his life to the wounded Worldheart and made the sanctuary his throne. As long as the five seals remain unresolved, he can return after apparent defeat.\n\nHe now wants an adventurer powerful enough to open the covenant, but unprepared enough to fail its final test. Each failed rescue feeds the wound and strengthens his hold over the forest.",

"text": "At the annual Renewal of the Covenant, Aveline enters an outer sanctuary to bless the rivers. The royal guard accompanies her, but the forest suddenly changes. Paths fold into thorn walls. The river turns black. Ancient stone doors open beneath the roots.\n\nThe Hollow King emerges with creatures driven mad by his influence. The guards fight, but their weapons cannot sever his bond to the Worldheart. He seizes Aveline and carries her into the Heartroot Citadel.\n\nHer garments hold back the worst of his corruption, so he cannot simply destroy her. He imprisons her above the Worldheart instead. Her living bond keeps the forest alive while allowing him to hold its renewal hostage.\n\nThe five artifacts have been scattered through the jungle's forgotten sanctuaries. The ten wardens guard the approaches to those places and the routes feeding the citadel's barrier. Their lairs are dead ends, often reached through loops and misleading corridors. An adventurer must explore and backtrack to find them.\n\nEdric sends out a summons. He offers a royal marriage to the adventurer who masters the elements, defeats all ten wardens, kills the Hollow King, and returns the princess safely. Aveline had already sworn that any future royal marriage must satisfy the covenant; Edric's offer invokes that oath. The successful ending still includes her spoken acceptance and the adventurer's choice to accept or decline the marriage.",

"text": "Aveline wears the Covenant Raiment, ceremonial royal clothing bound to the living keeper. Its fabric cannot be removed, replaced, cut away, burned, or permanently stained while the covenant remains sealed. Mud and blood fall from it like rain from wax. Tears mend. The garment returns to its proper shape after battle or imprisonment.\n\nThis magic preserves the keeper's life and the connection to the forest. It is not complete protection against injury, fear, confinement, or the Hollow King's magic. Aveline can still be harmed and must be rescued.\n\nFive visible seals are woven into the raiment: Fire at the left cuff, Water at the right cuff, Lightning at the throat clasp, Earth at the waist clasp, and Air at the mantle fastening. These positions give the cinematic and game clear visual targets without requiring any removal of clothing.\n\nEach seal has a matching physical artifact. The artifacts are keys, but elemental mastery supplies the power that turns them. A collected artifact can channel a small amount of power through a sword or firearm before mastery; it cannot unlock its matching seal until mastery has been completed.\n\nOnly the adventurer who personally masters all five elements can complete the release. Artifacts cannot be borrowed from a mastered companion, and purchased power cannot substitute for the trials.\n\nSuccessful release dissolves the binding enchantment while leaving Aveline fully dressed. Her garments become ordinary clothing, which she is finally free to change later. The curse concerns her freedom, the royal covenant, and the balance of nature.\n\nThe marriage condition follows the same law: the keeper cannot enter a royal union while the fivefold covenant remains bound. The king's decree alone cannot override it. The successful adventurer becomes eligible through mastery and release, then the pair choose whether to fulfill the promised union.",

Within one playthrough, the room graph remains consistent so the player can learn, map, and backtrack. A fresh cycle may create a new layout.\n\nThe map: A royal survey chart begins mostly blank. It records visited rooms and discovered landmarks. Notes left by earlier adventurers hint at secrets without becoming a fixed solution for every seed.\n\nSword and firearm: Both remain part of the existing hero's equipment. The artifacts can infuse blades and ammunition. Royal expedition remnants provide accessories and supplies; the lore does not require a new combat system.\n\nHealing vials: Verdane's healers bottle restorative jungle sap. It can mend the adventurer but cannot undo the covenant's transformation.\n\nOrdinary progression: Repeated combat teaches the hero how the jungle's energies behave and improves the existing combat statistics. The hero still begins at the established 1/1/1 values; the story assigns no new meanings to those stats.\n\nRespawning monsters: The wounded Worldheart keeps forcing corrupted life back into motion. Ordinary enemies may return as part of normal gameplay. The ten defeated wardens remain defeated for the current cycle and return only after a curse reset or a new game.\n\nIncreasing danger: As the adventurer gains power, the Hollow King senses a growing threat and drives stronger corruption toward the explored paths. Any scaling should preserve readable danger and the benefit of progression.\n\nThe final door: Each warden feeds a binding root surrounding the citadel. Ten recorded warden defeats open the physical gate. Elemental mastery and artifact completion do not gate that door. This deliberately permits a player to reach an incomplete rescue and experience the curse ending.\n\nTen boss lairs, five artifact sanctuaries, and the final approach are distinct destinations. Artifact and final routes should not collapse into one corridor. Lair positions can vary by seed while preserving valid access and the branching maze structure.",

This is cosmetic and narrative unless a later design explicitly implements persistent beasts across saves.\n\nFinal line: \"Another name lost. Another roar beneath the leaves.\"\n\nThe curse ending completes that attempt. Offer retry from the pre-ritual checkpoint or a fresh cycle. Retry is an out-of-story convenience and does not require inventing an in-world reversal. A fresh cycle begins with reset quest state and may use a new seed.
